Our Veterinary Team
Charlotte Dawson, DVM
Dr. Charlotte Dawson grew up near the USAF bases and Cambridge University in England. In her early years, she yearned to be a veterinarian and often volunteered at her local vet clinic. In 2009, she chose the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) as her future alma mater and studied bio-veterinary science in London. After graduating with her first degree and finding her future husband, she returned to RVC to complete her degree in veterinary medicine and was inducted into the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2017.
Throughout her years of vet school, Dr. Dawson worked at the London Zoo and multiple working animal farms across Europe. Her experiences fueled her passion to further her large animal focus and find bridges to connect with animals and their owners. She began work as a mixed practice relief veterinary surgeon, traveling around England before settling at Avenue Veterinary Centre in Grantham. In 2019, her husband retired from the Air Force and they all decided Texas was their future home and settled in New Braunfels to join the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic team.
Charlotte has a rescue pointer/hound named Reeka, a chihuahua called Sami, and two Sphynx cats named Midnight and Madame. She shares her life with her husband Chris and four children Jordan, Christopher, Charity, and Lexi. Charlotte enjoys a lovely cup of tea, being a foodie, weight lifting, hiking, and spending time with her family. Charlotte is elated to be a part of the team and looks forward to meeting new friends and connecting with the communities she is serving.
Jennifer Newman, DVM
Dr. Jennifer Newman grew up in North Texas near Fort Worth, where she developed her passion for all animals early on. In 2003, she and her family moved to New Braunfels, where she attended Canyon High School, then studied microbiology at Texas State University (go Bobcats!). During her three years at Texas State, she joined the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic team working part-time as a veterinary technician assistant. After gaining early acceptance into Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, she became a mixed animal practitioner and returned home to New Braunfels as a veterinarian with the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic team!
Jennifer has a three-legged cat named Kitty. Outside of work, Dr. Newman spends time outdoors, kayaking the rivers, and cooking new things at home. She also loves to garden with her mom and fish with her dad. She is glad to be back in New Braunfels and wants to better serve all the great people in her community.
While he’s not a veterinarian, Spots is an undoubtedly critical part of our team at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic of New Braunfels. As our resident hospital pet, three-legged Spots brings cheer to our staff and clients during stressful times. Sweet as a button, we’re so glad to have Spots on the team! We had our little Aine spayed here and they gave her the BEST care!! We have visited several vets in the area recently with our animals and feel that this one highly surpasses the others in the professionalism, the knowledge, the care, the follow-up, and just the overall experience! This place comes vet-recommended by another vet in the area (that doesn’t do surgery) and we are forever thankful that this is where we went!! Thank you Chisholm Trail for taking such amazing care of our little fur baby!!

I’m so thankful that I found Chisholm through yelp. They greeted us as soon as we walked in and we went straight into a room. The tech loved on my kitty. I was really impressed with the services our kitty received today. The tech and Dr. Dawson were awesome. I feel confident in my decision to take our kitty there. I highly recommend Chisholm to anyone looking for a vet.

Chisholm Trail was very accommodating to our needs. Our dog had an accident with another dog and need stitches. They were able to get us an appointment the same day and perform minor surgery the same afternoon. They gave us a cost estimate with a low and high end. The end cost was the in the middle of the two. Our dog came home in good spirits and seemed well taken care of. What more can you ask for?
