Aleenah Spencer, DVM
Dr. Aleenah Spencer, originally from Germany, grew up in Arizona and Virginia but considers Texas her home. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Texas A&M University, where she developed a strong foundation in veterinary science. She then pursued her dream further by attending the Royal Veterinary College in London, where she completed her veterinary education and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
From a young age, Dr. Spencer aspired to become a veterinarian. Her professional passions particularly lie in animal dermatology and dental care.
Outside of veterinary practice, Dr. Spencer is an accomplished ballerina with 26 years of experience and a passion for photography. She is also a talented spoken word artist and a published poet.
Lauren Hurley, DVM
Dr. Lauren Hurley is a native Texan from Dripping Springs, though she was born in Utah. Her family moved to Texas when she was a young girl, and she attended elementary, middle, and high school in Dripping Springs. She went on to study agricultural and animal sciences at Texas State University, where she became a proud Bobcat. During her undergraduate years, Dr. Hurley was president of the Animal Science Club, a member of the Pre-Veterinary Club and Bobcat Buzz Bee Club, and worked part-time as a Veterinary Assistant while maintaining a rigorous academic schedule.
Dr. Hurley earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, in 2024, with a focus on mixed-animal medicine and surgery. She also gained valuable experience working as a Research Assistant in the Biomedical Sciences department, where her research was published. Her clinical rotations provided hands-on experience with various animals, including cats, dogs, pigs, cattle, horses, goats, sheep, reptiles, pocket pets, rhesus macaques, and chimpanzees.
Dr. Hurley thrives on new challenges and problem-solving, believing that where there's a will, there's a way. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities with her Great Pyrenees mix, Mae, and immersing herself in nature. She is excited and proud to have joined our Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic in New Braunfels family, where she looks forward to further developing her medical skills and connecting with the community.
Kiersten Hartrim, DVM
Dr. Kiersten Hartrim grew up in Florida and has lived in many different places throughout her life, but she proudly considers Texas home. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware and worked as a large animal technician before pursuing her veterinary education at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2020, Dr. Hartrim began her career as a rural mixed animal veterinarian in Jacksboro, Texas.
Her early career provided a strong foundation in the care of a wide variety of species, including dogs, cats, cattle, horses, goats, sheep, backyard poultry, and even the occasional pocket pet or exotic animal. She also spent time practicing in Hinesville, Georgia, where she focused on small animal and shelter medicine. Dr. Hartrim is thrilled to be back in Texas and practicing mixed animal medicine once again.
Known affectionately as “Dr. H,” she enjoys the unique challenges and rewards that come with treating multiple species and is always eager to learn something new. Her professional interests include surgery, toxicology, and mentoring future veterinary professionals through client education and veterinary training.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Hartrim stays busy with her three large dogs and two cats, who keep her household happily chaotic. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring new places, tending her garden, baking homemade treats—including sourdough—and pursuing a variety of creative and artistic hobbies.

Chisholm Trail was very accommodating to our needs. Our dog had an accident with another dog and need stitches. They were able to get us an appointment the same day and perform minor surgery the same afternoon. They gave us a cost estimate with a low and high end. The end cost was the in the middle of the two. Our dog came home in good spirits and seemed well taken care of. What more can you ask for?

We had our little Aine spayed here and they gave her the BEST care!! We have visited several vets in the area recently with our animals and feel that this one highly surpasses the others in the professionalism, the knowledge, the care, the follow-up, and just the overall experience! This place comes vet-recommended by another vet in the area (that doesn’t do surgery) and we are forever thankful that this is where we went!!
